At approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, the state police Aviation Command was called to a remote area in a Grant County mountain, where there was a reported injured hunter who was in a tricky location.
"Due to the remote location, extended extrication time, and the nature of the hunter’s injuries," the Maryland State Police helicopter was called in to perform a hoist rescue.
According to police, a trooper was lowered to the scene into a clearing in the trees, where the hunter was prepped and hoisted into the helicopter for treatment and evaluation by paramedics.
Paramedics then transported the hunter to the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia for further assessment and treatment.
